Summer travel wardrobe staples for any age

Updated: Apr 27, 2022

“Travel like Gandhi, with simple clothes, open eyes and an uncluttered mind.” – Rick Steves
An evening in Roma

Travel photos on Instagram often highlight beautiful gowns and high heels, but those people likely change as soon as the photoshoot is over! Honestly, few things seem more miserable to us than walking for miles in a new city with uncomfortable clothes or shoes. For us, the key is cute but comfortable! Since we are always on the hunt for versatile products for our trips, we figured we would share what items are always in our suitcases as well as some tried and true options that we have purchased over the years.

Dresses & more:

You can’t go wrong with a cute outfit that makes you feel confident, but for long days of traveling, it’s important to us that they are airy and soft! Here are some favorite examples:

2. Easy Way Knit Dress (Sanctuary)

4. The 24 Hour Jumpsuit (Summersalt)

Tanks, tanks, tanks:

It’s safe to say we love any cute and casual tank top, but here are some comfy favorites:

1. Cami Tank Top (Majorelle)

3. Pete Tank (John & Lenn)

4. Marco Tank (Michael Lauren)

5. Reversible tops (Splice Clothing)

The most crucial...Shoes:

Comfort is key, sorry not sorry! We will whip out a heel for a night on the town, but we typically wear walking sandals or sneakers when we have many hours of sightseeing. Here are some favorites from over the years:

1. Brooks Sneakers (Amazon)

2. Some not-so-clunky Teva Sandals (Amazon)

Accessories & random items:

This category is a bit of a hodge-podge of nice-to-have items that we love.

2. Cute compression socks for long plane trips (Amazon)

3. Sun hat (Amazon)

4. Body Glide because we don't have time for chaffing (Amazon)

Hopefully you got some helpful ideas from this list, regardless of your age! You don’t have to sacrifice cute for comfort, but it definitely took us some trial and error to find brands and styles that worked for us. Let us know your favorite travel clothing or shoe brand in the comments below!

Thanks for reading!
